From the artist’s description on the site of Otis College of Art and Design: As part of the [Pocket Utopia] exhibition, I was asked to make an edition of “gocco’ prints, published by Pocket Utopia in an edition of 20, the sales of which will help to pay for the exhibition. Gocco" prints have become a burgeoning sub-culture/economy on-line, and Austin is committed to the D.I.Y. aspect of the process. “Gocco” is a home-hobby print making machine from Japan. There is always a learning curve when learning a new technology, and though simple, Gocco was no exception! After resisting the impulse to scrap the project, at the last minute, literally the night before the opening, we were able to come up with beautiful edition of 20 prints that we all felt good about. Happily, the inclusion of the 6 × 4 inch print provided a scale shift that enriched the show as a whole.
